Building Bridges
GIving and the Building Bridges Campaign
The YMCA's annual Building Bridges Campaign is our principal means of asking the communities we serve to help us make our services available to those who cannot afford to pay. Gifts will make it possible for us to:
- Send homeless and low-income children to overnight camp;
- Lower the cost of day care for a working parent;
- Provide instruction for the physically challenged;
- Help people achieve economic self-sufficiency;
- Support area food banks;
- Provide free meals to children who need them;
- Care for children before and after school;
- Counsel teens to stay in school and off drugs;
- Provide our wellness programs and social services to everyone regardless of ability to pay; and more.
The Legacy Continues
For over 150 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington has been dedicated to the spiritual, mental and physical development of children, families and adults in our nation's capital area. The YMCA offers many significant programs designed to provide opportunities to work, play and learn individually and with others. The YMCA touches the lives of hundreds of thousands of people through its wide variety of social services and fitness programs which include: preschool and school-age child care; summer day camp; after-school activities; teen leadership programs; mentoring programs; basketball leagues; adult and family wellness facilities and classes; intergenerational programs; parenting classes; and special events. By providing a supervised, safe and stimulating environment, the YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
